Anne Moïse to be Honored Woman-of-the-Year - Anne M. Moïse, ret. Vice President for Public Relations, Port Security, Human Resources, and General Service for SC State Ports Authority (SCSPA), has been named recipient of the CWIT 2005 "Woman of the Year" (WOTY) award. In recent years Moïse successfully led the SCSPA's effort to increase port security and federal funding. Ms. Moïse continues to serve on security-related projects at the SCSPA and is highly respected for her maritime and security expertise in addition to her vast knowledge of international trade and over 30 years experience in the maritime industry. She is well known by many editorial boards and media leaders throughout this state for her professionalism and dedication to our state ports and South Carolina. Ms. Moïse will be presented the award at CWIT's 2005 Annual Banquet.

Scholarship Recipients Named - Two well deserving international business students, Bradley Whitley and Jessica Schuler, have been named recipients of CWIT's scholarship awards. Bradley Whitley attends the College of Charleston, and Jessica Schuler attends Clemson University. Both will be presented the awards at CWIT's 2005 Annual Banquet.

Seating for Ten Selling Out Fast - Thank you to our many table sponsors who have purchased table seating for ten at this years banquet event. Experience Colonial Trading - The theme of the 3rd Annual CWIT Banquet to be held on April 12, 2005, 6:30 pm at Charleston Place Hotel highlights world trade in the Lowcountry during colonial times. Import and export activities were strong with Barbados and other West Indies islands, England, West Africa, and China, among others. Products traded with these countries will be on display at the banquet and included in the centerpieces at each table to be presented to a lucky recipient at each table. The colonial trade theme is also carried out during the Charles Towne Exchange, as attendees have an opportunity to shop at the silent auction during the networking social hour while partaking of beverages, including international beers.

Listen To Your Favorite Tunes - Enjoy local pianist Bill Purcell while shopping at the exchange and enjoying cocktails from 6:30 to 7:30. Mr. Purcell, a local accomplished pianist, teacher and accompanist, will demonstrate his diversity by performing various classical, pop and ragtime favorites. He attended Berry College and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BA degree in Piano Performance. He has performed in many local venues, and currently is the pianist for the Unity Church in North Charleston. He also teaches private piano lessons.

Dining at the Charleston Place Hotel - On April 12, 2005 the Soiree at Charles Towne Exchange will be held at the world renowned Charleston Place Hotel in beautiful downtown Charleston, SC. Famous for its exceptional service, delectable cuisine, and luxurious ambience, selection of the Charleston Place Hotel as the location for CWIT's 3rd Annual Banquet event is sure to be top notch and unforgettable! SOA Strings Quartet to Perform - On April 12, 2005, banquet attendees will be treated to music from the School of the Arts High School String Quartet.  They will perform at 7:30  pm during dinner. Musical selections will be light classical and easy listening for your dining pleasure. Members of the ensemble include Taylor Raffield and Sytske Hillenius on violin, Morgan Lewis on viola, and Terrence Freeman on cello. These highly trained and talented musicians attend high school at the Charleston County School of the Arts under the direction of Sarah Fitzgerald.

Shop the Exchange - This year's banquet theme, Soiree at Charles Towne Exchange, provides banquet guests with some “hands-on” trade activities while sipping cocktails and listening to Bill Purcell playing favorites on the piano. Starting at 6:30 pm through 7:30 pm, a “Shop the Exchange” Silent Auction will offer an exciting collection of products and services that have been graciously donated by local Charleston businesses and craftspeople.
