Two-$3000 Scholarships -
$3000 scholarships will be awarded each to  two deserving students at the 2009 annual banquet event. CWIT’s scholarship program began in 2004 to aid a South Carolina resident student, enrolled/enrolling in an in-state accredited higher education program in pursuit of a degree specific to international trade or related course of study. Congratulations to Ms. Saidah Grimes of University of South Carolina and Ms. Maureen Porzio of the College of Charleston.

Crafting Sweetgrass Baskets - Ms. Sandra LeSueur and Ms. Trudy Hicks will demonstrate traditional weaving techniques used in crafting sweetgrass baskets that are synonymous with the Lowcountry and purchased and enjoyed by locals and visitors from around the world. Ms. LeSueur and Ms. Hicks learned how to weave sweet grass baskets as children around the age six. They were taught by their grandmother. Music Under the Stars - Join members and guests in welcoming local  musicians, father and son duo Bill Purcell and William Purcell, to kick off the 7th Annual Banquet, "The Charleston Soirée". Attendees  will enjoy old Jazz standards, modern contemporary favorites, and sing-a-long ballads. Entertainment begins under the stars at 6:00 PM in the Fountain Courtyard. |
